Japanese Stab Bindings

These books are created by strategic stringing of thread through an array of organized holes. The interior pages are folded in half with the folded edge on the outside of the book, and the two folded edges hidden in the binding. Many patterns can be created with this method. The first three books are made with delicate Japanese rice paper. The fourth book uses a collection of Riso printed posters from a separate assignment. The book can now be used for any purpose, but has the secret of the posters on the inside of the folded pages. The fifth book is a collection of printed cyanotypes created over the course of the semester. The last book was an exercise in a new pattern using a mix of colored papers.
